Marisa Rios is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) in the state of New Jersey. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rowan University and a Masters degree from Montclair State University in Addictions Counseling. She is currently working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC).
Marisa has experience working with adults and adolescents struggling with substance use, anxiety, suicidal ideation and depression. Marisa comes from a Latina background and focuses on understanding the complexities of family dynamics and relationships.
Marisa focuses on working collaboratively with clients to reach their personal goals and believes it’s important to meet clients where they are at in their journey. Maintaining a positive and safe environment for clients to express past and present experiences is something she is passionate about.
Marisa utilizes approaches such as; Motivational interviewing(MI), Cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT) and Dialectical behavior therapy.
