Amelia-Joanne Turner, LPC

Amelia Joanne Turner Is a former teacher and worked as a school counselor earning a post masters as a Licensed Professional Counselor from Kean University. She has worked in the Elizabeth public school system for many years with a passionate commitment in helping to navigate children and adolescents by focusing on their social, emotional learning as well as their needs.  As a school counselor, Amelia believed that people are too unique to be treated with the same therapeutic approach. Her counseling techniques stemmed from an individual plan for every student she met.  She has implemented modalities such as client centered therapy, and guided self-help therapy.

In addition to school counseling, Amelia was the Chairperson of her school’s Intervention and Referral Services, giving parents and teachers evidence based interventions to utilize in the classroom and at home. She was also part of the school crisis team. Amelia believes that anyone can benefit from having a professional listen to them in a non-judgemental setting.

We all have the ability to set new goals, mend relationships and overcome past hurtful experiences.

Amelia understands the apprehensiveness related to beginning therapy. She is here to provide support and create an environment in which you will feel safe and respected.
