Vivian Lam - Scotch Plains Therapist

Vivian Lam is a Licensed Associate Counselor in the state of New Jersey with a strong passion for supporting individuals through their unique mental health journeys. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling from Rutgers University.

With experience working alongside both teenagers and adults, Vivian has provided compassionate care to individuals navigating a wide range of challenges, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, depression, anxiety, cerebral palsy, vision impairments, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. She has worked extensively with clients with co-occurring disorders and disabilities, offering a therapeutic space that is inclusive, understanding, and client-driven.

Her approach to counseling is rooted in Person-Centered Therapy and integrates evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychotherapy, and trauma-informed care. She values building authentic therapeutic relationships and meeting each client where they are in their journey.

In addition to her clinical work, Vivian is especially passionate about supporting individuals who have experienced adoption-related trauma, helping clients navigate physical and mental health needs, and guiding people as they adjust to the fast-paced, ever-evolving world of social media and modern life pressures.

Above all, she is committed to providing a safe, empathetic, and empowering space for all clients—especially those from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
