Laura has worked in the counseling field for over four years. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of New Jersey, and a member of the American Counseling Association. Her educational background includes the following: a B.S. in Psychology (with Minors in Holistic Health and Behavioral Neuroscience) from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, and a M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgian Court University. Her experience has primarily focused on adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health diagnoses.
As her career progressed, she observed more similarities than differences between substance use and mental health conditions. In her opinion, she did not find counseling as a career– counseling found her. Laura believes it is a privilege to work in a field that helps clients grow, flourish, and reach their goals.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Laura works with clients in a variety of situations and diagnoses. This includes but is not limited to anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, co-occurring diagnoses, substance use, chronic pain, and relationship issues. She emphasizes client strengths, self-care, and challenging self-limiting beliefs to help clients achieve their goals.
Laura collaborates with clients to prioritize goals based on clients’ values and their vision of an authentic, healthy life. Laura’s counseling style is trauma-informed and integrative (including CBT and MI approaches). She views counseling as a process similar to working on a puzzle together. As a counselor, Laura serves as a listening ear, advocate, cheerleader and brainstorming partner in one.
